A Life Of Professionalism
By poker-games.mysportsbookonline.info

Have you ever heard the terms "live life to professional standards and not as an amateur to amateur standards"? Well, this article will give an old but genuinely working meaning to that saying that needs to be made light of and light shined upon it for all to see. Or to quote a song line The Band from their 1971 album "Cahoots" in the song "Where Do We Go From Here": "Have you ever seen the eagle of distinction?" Well, conscious professionalism could be your 'eagle of distinction' and this article will tell you how without flinching one iota from reality.

Honesty, forthrightness, adaptability and openness to growth are the core concepts of genuine professionalism. Also, the patience to genuinely work with conditions no matter what the pace or cadence, indeed, also you consider yourself though in the professional balance and what you can handle. For, what you can handle is what you can give and take. What you cannot handle, you drop. Remember, personal profit as well as common sense are more important factors in professionalism in that you have to be honest, forthright, adaptable and open enough to growth for yourself to know that part of professionalism is genuinely sensible rational self-interest profit to grow yourself and your life on.

This is life on genuinely professional terms I am talking about, not out and out irrational greed at all. Indeed, the facts. Only an amateur of any sort is genuinely altruistic without personal gain of any sort. But a professional is always intelligently looking out for himself or herself and help themselves rationally grow before helping the other or another person, whoever it may indeed be. So, the reality of the situation is considered before anything else, even gain for one's self or even growth. As the old saying goes, "never make a move too soon or too late."

For example: rational benefit ultimately benefits everyone in the long-term by the fact of being rationally planned and thought out to where even one's self and all concerned are benefitted; "correct", that's genuine professionalism.

The opposite example: Irrational benefit ultimately benefits no one in the long-term but seems to do "something" in the short-term by virtue of being immediate, but the action of irrational benefit indeed harms genuinely in the long term or even destroys; "wrong", that is unprofessional behavior and reality.

The concept of rational or irrational benefit is the demarcation line of professionalism or unprofessionalism.

My point is that we all have a choice in accordance with and starting with our attitudes no matter what. Indeed, we have to be honest, forthright and adaptable enough to make that choice for ourselves.

In life, in the realm of attitudes, starting from the attitudes which is the bottom rung of the ladder, ultimate results are the top

rung, but all rungs of the ladder are necessary for the logical climb. We are alone in our climb, we all have to climb for ourselves starting with a proper attitude about climbing to where we want to go in life.

So, professionalism starts with an attitude. The attitude it starts with is rational benefit, and the kind of professionalism practiced determines all results as a long-range reality or way of being. A personal note here: What influenced this article is a book by Uell Stanley (U.S.) Andersen called "Success-Cybernetics" and my experiences in living big-time. Thus, when I think about sanity, it is nothing more than a right attitude about life and existence, and that attitude indeed is professionalism.

Indeed, many articles pontificate about "what is professionalism?" But I can honestly say that I am getting to the "bare bones" that make up the body of genuine professionalism and the reality of the situation and it is not complex or complicated, but the simplest thing in life and existence. It all starts with an attitude. Life is what you make it? Yes. It starts with an attitude and ends with results, professional or otherwise, depending on you as it does myself. So live as a professional from the ground up and you will get professional results.

My name is Joshua Clayton, I am a freelance writer based in Inglewood, California. I also write under a few pen-names and aliases, but Joshua Clayton is my real name, and I write by that for the most part now. I am a philosophical writer and objective thinker and honest action taker. I also work at a senior center in Gardena, California as my day job, among other things, but primarily I am a writer. As a kid I did construction work with my Dad which taught me many things like plumbing, hard labor and electrical systems, and I took notes for my Dad's home poker games at my Uncle Johnnie Gilmore's house, so I have a lot of life experience, sure. But I went to Cal State Dominguez Hills College, UCLA, and El Camino Junior College and learned a lot, but never got around to getting a degree, just lots of money spent, good grades and some credits. So, here I am currently freelance writing and working at a senior center for a living.

But enough details of my life, what I do is not what I am. So here is what I enjoy, I enjoy reading, listening to music (everything from Beetoven, Strauss and Bach to The Meters, ELO and The Band and Dylan/Garcia and The Grateful Dead also, when they were the Grateful Dead. Well, as you can tell by SOME of the music I listen to, I am a very eclectic person. I am also a deep science fiction fan and as said before, a lover of books. If I were to go into everything it would take thousands of words and I only have about three hundred words here, of which I have used 290 of already. Well, I end here. Thanks. Joshua Clayton.
